This project consisted of the construction of George Rogers Clark High School’s football stadium, competition gymnasium, and accompanying athletic fields. The stadium construction utilized load bearing masonry, with a poured concrete roof on spread footings and caissons. The stadium’s grandstand is supported by caissons on both the exterior and within the “2 buildings” below. Wall panels with graphics were featured to elevate the stadium’s physical appearance. The stadium is accompanied by a full 8 lane track with all track/field equipment and a turf field for soccer. Additionally, 6 tennis courts were added to the project through an alternate. The gym portion of the project consisted of constructing a 4,400 seat gymnasium comprised of structural steel and structural stud framing on caissons, with brick veneer/stone cladding and metal wall panels. The gymnasium includes a TPO roof, interior masonry and metal stud walls. Long span trusses of over 200 feet support the roof structure. Terrazzo and VCT floor coverings are featured in common areas, while LVT and wood flooring were used in the locker rooms and gym area.
