Alice Lloyd College Hermann Hall

Alice Lloyd College Hermann Hall is a four-story women’s dormitory.  The project site was problematic with limited space, bound on the south by a mountain highwall and on the north by Caney Creek.  The Owner did not want to exceed four stories in respect to the scale of the existing campus. Therefore, achieving the desired occupancy required substantial rock removal along the south highwall to make room for the building footprint.

The facility is constructed of concrete masonry and a steel frame structure with a precast concrete plank floor structure. There are 70 individual rooms housing 140 students. The spatial arrangement consists of a central core with east and west wings.  Each wing contains a study/lounge space and restroom. The bedrooms are 242 SF each.
